Summary :

Feed enzymes have been used predominantly in pig and poultry diets. Traditionally they were not used in ruminant diets because the fibrolytic activity within the rumen environment was assumed to be sufficient and that exogenous enzymes could not survive proteolysis in the rumen.

However, it is evident from studies done by Bioproton and others that enzyme formulation like Natuzyme can improve feed digestion. Studies have indicated that responses to level of enzyme addition differ with forage type, so that the additive was more effective with more fibrous roughage such as wheat straw. Another important factor determining the efficacy of enzymatic treatment of forages is the level of enzyme application and it was observed that high levels of addition could be less effective than low levels.
